I developed the Building Stronger Bones Program in Cairns, a specialised physiotherapy-led exercise program designed to improve bone health through an evidence-based approach to movement and strength.
The program features one-hour group sessions that combine high-intensity resistance training, impact loading, and balance-focused exercises. Each group is limited to five participants, ensuring close supervision, individual attention, and a supportive environment.
Originally launched with just two sessions per week, the program has now expanded to seven weekly classes due to its growing popularity and strong community demand.
Over the past two years, the program has achieved exceptional results, including multiple cases of osteoporosis reversing to osteopenia or normal bone density through consistent participation and coordinated medical management.
Many women have progressed from lifting 5 kg dumbbells to performing 72 kg trap bar deadlifts and 60 kg barbell back squats, demonstrating safe and significant strength improvements.
Notably, many participants continue to lift heavier weights even while managing co-morbidities such as osteoarthritis, joint replacements, and spinal fusions, showing that strength training can be both safe and transformative under physiotherapy guidance.
The success of Building Stronger Bones reflects my commitment to empowering people to move with confidence, build strength, and take control of their long-term bone health.
